Initial Self-Study registration has no deadline. Deadlines for assignments will be applied. BASIC CERTIFICATION PROGRAM For the Basic Program, four program options will be offered. The first involves the completion of designated requirements for each course. Completion will earn a certificate from Freeman Institute for Cognitive Therapy. The third option is the Academic certificate for those who are not currently seeing clients. This option would substitute participation in level #300 (Case Consultation). The fourth option is to audit the course sequence. It is designed for the professional who may not have time to complete all the requirements for certification. All classes will be held in Fort Wayne, Indiana unless otherwise specified. The Freeman Institute for Cognitive Therapy faculty do not explicitly or implicitly accept responsibility for treatment decisions made by students in this program for patients under their treatment. Our schedule is subject to change. THE ADVANCED CERTIFICATION PROGRAM This program is for those who have documented training and experience using the Cognitive-Behavioral model of treatment in their clinical work. Professionals who have been trained as Cognitive therapists at a recognized program (such as FICT or ACCT) or university are eligible for this training and supervision opportunity. The advanced program is prescriptive and developed between the student and a faculty member. The focus of this second training year will be to specialize in the student's area of interest and specialty. Arthur Freeman, EdD, ABPP, HSPP, will coordinate the Fort Wayne program which will consist of ten group meetings with dates to be announced. Participants will discuss cases and be given reading and written assignments tailored to their individual needs. Each professional will be required to complete a written article of publication quality. Dr. Freeman is one of the most widely recognized therapists in Cognitive Therapy over 50 published books as well as articles too numerous to mention. CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT A total of 70 CE/CME hours is offered for completion of the program. The Advanced Certification Program earns 45 CE hours. Continuing education credits are sponsored by the Atlanta Center for Cognitive Therapy (ACCT) (see APA and NBCC statement on previous page) & The Freeman Institute for Cognitive Therapy.
