Janet M. Eggiman, RN, M.S. LMFT is an expert in Marriage and Family therapy with many years experience with families
and children experiencing difficulties including grief, trauma, physical and sexual abuse, attention deficit disorder, and
autistic spectrum disorders as well as learning and school problems, and school refusal.  

Ms. Eggiman has experience with individual, couples, family and group therapy
settings using a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive behavior therapy, family therapy, pet therapy (with her
therapy wonder dog Kotter), play therapy, and brief therapy techniques.  
In addition, Jan is a Registered Nurse with many years of experience as a staff nurse and nurse manager in hospital
settings.  She has provided medication management under the
direction of a licensed prescriber in addition to psychotherapy as a marriage and family therapist.  

Ms. Eggiman completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Purdue University and her Master of Science Degree in
Marriage in Family Therapy at Indiana University.

Ms. Eggiman is completing her certification in Cognitive Therapy at the Center for Brief Therapy.

The following are some of the services provided by Ms. Eggiman that may be of interest to parents, teachers, school
counselors, health practitioners and physicians.

Focus on Formulas.  A group for 2nd and 3rd graders who need help with behavior, impulsivity, following directions, and
making friends.  This group will be six (6) sessions and will meet on Saturday mornings.

Social Skills Training.  This is offered as individual and group therapy for children diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum
Disorders.  This also includes parent training.   Groups are small with no more than three children.

Girl’s Group.  A group for girl’s in middle school.  The emphasis will be on self esteem, what it means to be a friend, and
decision making skills.  This group will run for six (6) sessions on Wed. evenings.

Assessment and treatment for children who are struggling with social issues at school and just "fitting in".  She specializes
in the evaluate of pervasive developmental disorders that may affect the child's functioning.  Disorders such as
Asperger's
Syndrome are often missed, or misdiagnosed resulting in a life long struggle with the subtle and difficult problems in adjusting
and interacting in social situations.

Pet loss for families.  This is a program of four (4) sessions that helps families cope with grief issues surrounding the loss
of pet and can be individualized to meet the needs of the family. Child and Adolescent Therapy.  This includes diagnosis,
assessment, and treatment using Cognitive Behavioral Techniques incorporating Family Therapy and Animal Assisted
Therapy techniques with Kotter, registered Therapy Dog.

Cognitive Therapy with Couples.  The emphasis is on establishing a collaborative set (an atmosphere conducive to
working together.), re-establishing friendships, understanding dysfunctional thought patterns and emotions, and providing
cognitive interventions that help the couple negotiate behavioral changes.

Individual Therapy for adults.   Addresses such concerns as depression, post partum depression, anxiety, physical
illnesses, infidelity, coaching, work related stress or burn out, and ADHD.  Cognitive Behavioral interventions include use of
goal setting,  labeling automatic thoughts and emotions, use of automatic thought records, and techniques for changing
thought patterns.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.  Diagnosis of ADHD is made through an assessment of the child’s behavior,
parent and teacher reports, and a detailed history of development, family, social skills, behavior, and physical or
psychological illnesses. Treatment begins immediately.
