Sharon Morgillo Freeman, PhD, MSN,APRN-CS, CARN-AP

Dr. Sharon Morgillo Freeman is the President and Executive Director of The Center for Brief Therapy in Fort Wayne, Indiana
and President of the Chairman of the Board of the Freeman Institute Corporation.
She is Licensed in Indiana as an Advanced Practice Clinical
Nurse Specialist and Member of the Board of Directors of
The International Association of Cognitive Psychotherapy

Since her move to Indiana in 2004, Dr. Freeman was awarded "Top Doc" by her peers in NorthEast Indiana
in the category "Psychiatry" by
Fort Wayne Business Journal 2006.

She is board certified by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, the only certifying body to certify therapists based on training, competence and experience.  In
addition to achieving national certification as an
Advanced Practice Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist she has senior level international certification
as an Advanced Practice Certified Addiction Nurse through the International Society of Nurses on Addictions (IntSNA).  Dr. Freeman has a Ph.D in
Sociology and her two Master's degrees were awarded in Psychology through the Adler School of Professional Psychology. and Advanced Practice
Psychiatric nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Freeman is a trained and certified to treat Rape Trauma Syndrome and PTSD and Acute Trauma
Syndrome as well as Combat Stress Trauma through The International Trauma Institute.

Dr. Morgillo Freeman took the majority of her graduate course work in the school of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania enjoying the expertise of
such world renowned mentors such as Dr. Charles O'Brien, Dr. George Woody, Dr. Charles Dackis, Dr. Irwin Lucki, Dr. Laura McNicholas, Dr. Tom
McLellan, Dr. Art Alterman and Dr. Anna Rose Childress.

She has served on the Steering Committee of the Northeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center Practice Improvement Collaborative, a division of the
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration office out of the U.S. National Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Freeman is currently senior editor of "In Harm's Way: The Psychological Treatment Handbook
for Pre- and Post-Deployment of Military Members" to be published by Routledge.  In addition she is an author, along with her husband and Dr. Mark
Gilson on the revised edition of "Treatments That Work: Taming the Depression Beast" undergoing it's second revision by Oxford University Press.

She was senior editor with Dr. Arthur (Art) Freeman for
Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Nursing Practice  published by Springer January 2005.  She has
authored or co-authored numerous papers and chapters including  "Cognitive Behavior Therapy and the Roy Adaptation Model: A Discussion of
Theoretical Integration" with
Sr. Callista Roy. Callista L. Roy, RN, PhD, is a Professor and Nurse Theorist at the William F. Connell School of Nursing at
Boston College.

Sharon has lectured nationally and internationally on the problems of substance misuse, addiction issues, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and chronic pain
problems.

Dr. Morgillo Freeman authored several chapters for the Core Curriculum for Addiction Nurses for the International Society for Addiction
Nursing, The Journal of Addiction Nursing, and the Basics of Addiction Counseling for NAADAC.
Dr. Freeman was a lecturer and preceptor for senior medical residents at the University of Pennsylvania for 3 years for Mental Health Assessment course
work and Substance Abuse Assessment course work.  At the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center she has served as a consultant for patients with
pain and complications with narcotic analgesia.  Dr. Freeman is Past-President of the Pennsylvania Association for Addiction Professionals (PAADAC)
(2002-2004) and previous Clinical Director of Inpatient Addiction Services, Inpatient Acute Psychiatric and Dual Diagnosis Units  for the University of
Pennsylvania Medical Center at Presbyterian.

Under Dr. Freeman's leadership these units was named one of the 10 best programs by U.S. News and World Reports in 2002 as well as the Pennsylvania
State and Philadelphia City award for best practice. That same year they were awarded the national treatment program award by NAADAC the
Association for Addiction Professionals.

Dr. Freeman is currently accepting appointments at the Center for Brief Therapy, P.C.  She specializes in both
psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy for problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, chronic pain management,
substance use and misuse problems, marriage and couples therapy, personality disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder
(OCD), bipolar disorder, stress problems that are crisis related or chronic as in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),
attention deficit disorder (ADD or ADHD), and asperger's syndrome.
